If you’re a fisherman, whether you only enjoy the occasional weekend outing or you head for the shore every chance you get, you’ll love knowing that there are several great fishing spots on Marco Island. These are our three favorites!
3 Great fishing Spots on Marco Island
South beach, one of the area’s hidden gems, is located on the southern tip of Cape Marco, in a 150 foot area between two rock piles. No boat necessary, just cast your line! Whiting, snook, and flounder are all plentiful just offshore, and larger species are drawn to the area where Caxambas Bay carves through the Ten Thousand Islands.
Fort Myers Beach Pier
For a casual, relaxed fishing experience, try the Fort Myers Beach Pier. Located at 950 Estero Boulevard, Fort Myers Beach Pier has been a favorite since the 1930s and offers a nice variety of fish. Here you can bag whiting, silver trout, and flounder, and occasionally even a bonnethead shark. The pier is located in a more developed area, so there are some nice stores and restaurants available just a short walk away.
Ten Thousand Islands
For fisherman with boat access, head out a little southwest of Marco Island to this fishing hotspot. A big assortment of species are waiting there, including snook, tarpon, ladyfish, mackerel, and a number of sharks. Light tackle and flies are your best bet for a big catch here.
