Marco Island has its share — okay, more than its share — of great community parks. If you’re moving to the area, these are the three must-visit parks.
Caxambas Park is a popular access point for area boaters. The well-maintained 4-acre park area and attached concession stand are a great place to stop before or after you hit the water. There’s also a nice little playground and picnic area for those that would rather watch the boats from dry land.
Collier County Racquet Center
If you’re serious about any kind of racquet sport, then the Collier County Racquet Center is sure to become a popular stop in your weekly routine. This public facility is open seven days a week and offers four lighted tennis courts, two lighted clay courts and indoor racquetball and handball courts for inclimate weather. The prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and the courts are well-maintained.
Frank E. Mackle, Jr. Community Park
The Frank E. Mackle, Jr. Community Park (aka Mackle Park) is a must for all ages but has extra appeal for families. A large summer splash pad makes this one of the area’s top free attractions. Other features of the park include covered basketball courts, a community center, a lakeside walking/jogging trail and an open picnic area.
